Lynn University announces 2019–20 season of Jan McArt’s New Play Readings

BOCA RATON, Florida, July 24, 2019—Lynn University and Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, today announced the upcoming series of Jan McArt’s New Play Readings. Under the leadership and guidance of McArt, this program develops new plays by highly acclaimed playwrights through staged readings. The series is presented in memory of beloved associate producer, Tony Finstrom.

This year, Lynn celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the beautiful Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, where all readings will take place. Wayne Rudisill is resident director of the four-part series. Series subscriptions are $36 and individual shows are $10. Over the course of the twentieth century, the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni became home to three intriguing women who used this illustrious locale to reinvent themselves and influence the times in which they lived. Luisa Casati, Doris Castlerosse and Peggy Guggenheim: Three fascinating women, one magical palace in Venice, a menagerie of extravagant stories.

The Night Before

It is only natural to wonder, “What happened in the home of a young man the night before he became a school shooter?” This work seeks to determine where the fault lies in a horrific act of terror, hoping to find sense in the senseless.

His Heroine

Facing a parent’s worst nightmare, Glen still struggles to accept his missing daughter’s life choices while at the same time imagining a joyful reunion made possible only by his fictional rewrite of her entire life to erase the painful reality of her heroin addiction.
