SCOTT LAMLEIN: “VIRTUOSIC FLAIR AND FIRE”Cited by The American Organist magazine as possessing “virtuosic flair and fire,” SCOTT LAMLEIN is an artist whose performances bring a unique emotional and spiritual inspiration to his audiences. Combining superb keyboard technique, captivating showmanship, and a strong faith, concerts by Mr. Lamlein explore the tonal resources and infinite range of expression that only the King of Instruments provides. The pipe organ—designed to bring the roar and whisper of a symphony orchestra to the fingertips and feet of one musician—goers far beyond the bounds of the church service at his performances. Listeners will find a place of solace, a time of wonder and awe, and a re-awakened love of this magnificent instrument, as both organ and organist host a spiritual and musical journey that hold his audiences spellbound, and have been described as inspiring, uplifting, powerful and flawless. Recently returned from a concert tour in Europe, where he performed for enthusiastic audiences in Germany and Switzerland, Scott Lamlein has been an active concert artist for more than fifteen years. His performance credits include venues ranging from Mechanics Hall and the Cathedral of St. Paul (Worcester, MA); the Methuen (MA) Memorial Music Hall; St. Thomas Church (NYC); King’s Chapel and Trinity Church (Boston); the Cathedral of St. Joseph (Hartford, CT); and Uberlingen Cathedral (Germany). His concerts have been broadcast on WCRB-FM (Boston), and WICN-FM (Worcester). Prior to becoming a full-time concert artist, Scott served as Director of Music Ministries at Wesley United Methodist Church, in Worcester, where he regularly performed masterworks on the IV/73, 1927 E.M. Skinner Organ. He also served churches in Connecticut for many years, and served as the Artistic Director of the Music Alive! Concert Series (2005-08); the 16-voice a cappella chorus, Sacred Voices (2003-04); and the South Hadley Chorale (1996-97). As a recording artist, Scott released The Organ at Worship (North Forty Road Music)—featuring his signature piece, the Organoedia ad missam lectam of Zoltán Kodály—in 2006. He also is featured on the 2005 CD release, Great Organs of Worcester. His first solo CD, In Quiet Joy: Music of Advent and Christmas, was released in 1997. He holds a degree in organ and liturgical music from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and has been an adjunct faculty member at the Pakachoag Community Music School (Auburn, MA). In addition to his concerts, Scott is also available to lead hymn festivals and workshops. Rosenberg earned his B.S. Degree in Musicology at Columbia University, M.S. Degree in Music Education at the University of Western Connecticut and Ph.D in Music Theory and Composition at Hamilton University. Additional study at Yale University and The Juilliard School where he studied conducting with Jean Morel and organ with Vernon deTar and Virgil Fox. He served for 7 years as an Instructor-Navigator aboard B-47's and B-52's in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Rosenberg is a member of the American Guild of Organists and has composed several works for the organ and orchestra in addition to a new, commisioned work "Waldron Requiem" for 2 soloists, chorus, organ, string orchestra and tympani. He has presented concerts in many locations throughout the U.S. and Europe. Notably at St. Stephan's Cathedral in Passau Germany performing on the largest church organ in Europe. He has served St. Maximillian Catholic Church in Duesseldorf as summer organist providing weekly recitals for 15 years, Next March 19th, he will conduct the St. Lucie Chorale and Koncertchor '73 from Ratingen-Duesseldorf in a combined concert presenting his new Requiem and Rossini's Stabat Mater with full orchestra and a solo quartet from Germany at the Maltz Jupiter Theater in Jupiter.
________________________________________________________________ Christopher Harrell is Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and School in Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Harrell received the Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying organ with Haskell Thomson and harpsichord and continuo playing with Lisa Goode Crawford. During his studies at Oberlin, Mr. Harrell was featured on the student honors recital and recorded two works that were broadcast on the National Public Radio program for organ music, “Pipedreams.” In 1989, Mr. Harrell spent a semester in London on the Danenburg Oberlin-in-London Program studying the English Choral tradition at Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral and other cathedrals outside London. Through a scholarship from Rotary International, he continued his organ studies in 1993-1994 with renowned organist Marie-Louise Langlais at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris-C.N.R. At the end of the year he was the only student in her class to be awarded the top performance prize, Prix de Perfectionnement, by the organ jury headed by Marie-Claire Alain. While in Paris he was appointed as Organ Scholar at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity—the cathedral for the American Episcopal Churches throughout Europe. In 1997, Mr. Harrell completed a Master’s Degree in Sacred Music though the Candler School of Theology and Emory University in Atlanta, where he studied organ with Timothy Albrecht and liturgical studies with Don Saliers. From 2002-2004, he served on the faculty of Emory University as Artist Affiliate in Harpsichord. Prior to moving to Miami in 2004, he was the harpsichordist for the Ritornello Baroque Ensemble and the Emory Faculty Baroque Ensemble, and concurrently Organist-Choirmaster at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Dalton, Georgia. As a recitalist, he has performed in France, England, Norway, and throughout the eastern United States. He is an active member of the Anglican Association of Musicians and serves as Secretary for the Miami Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. ________________________________________________________________
Mark C. Jones is a native of Asheville, North Carolina, where he studied organ with Dr. Marilyn Keiser and with Donna Robertson at nearby Mars Hill College. Additional coaching or private study has been with notables Dame Gillian Weir, Dr. Gerre Hancock, Dr. Steven Williams, Dr. David Craighead, Frederick Swan, Todd Wilson, Martin Jean and Dr. Alec Wyton. Jones is currently Organist and Interim Director of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, Florida (known as The Pink Church – www.pinkpres.org) where he also administrates the Spire Concert Series. A frequent South Florida performer as recitalist, accompanist or as an adjudicator or composer, Jones has appeared with the Florida Philharmonic, the Boca Pops, the New World Symphony, the Lynn University Orchestra, the Young Artists Chamber Orchestra, the Palm Beach Atlantic Symphony and the Miami Bach Society as well as solo performances in churches, and in collaborations with chamber groups and area choruses, including the Florida Philharmonic Chorus, the Master Chorale of South Florida and the Ft. Lauderdale Christian Chorale. He also performs with virtuoso saxophonist Andrea Gilbert in their duo “Classical Sax”. Jones arranges music for organ and brass and has performed with the Dallas Brass, the Avatar Brass and the Eastman Brass. Jones has performed extensively on many famous and historic instruments across Europe and Scandinavia in collaborations with the Gold Coast Ringers and the Treasure Coast Ringers. Jones’ organ preludes have been performed widely across the US and in Europe and have been broadcast on National Public Radio’s “Pipedreams”. His Three Lenten Hymn Meditations, published by Morningstar Music Publishers have been recorded by Dr. Marilyn Keiser on her CDs “Spiritual Pairs” (Pro Organo) and “Centennial Flourishes”, (Organ Historical Society) recorded on the new Harrison and Harrison organ at St. James Church, Hendersonville, NC. Jones’ Trumpet Tune in D (published by Randall Egan) is recorded by organist Lucia Clemente-Falco on the “Great Organs of Worcester” CD. Additional compositions by Mark Jones are available from Morningstar Music Publishers, Randall Egan Music Company, Colla Voce Music, and from the composer. Appointed principal accompanist in 2006 for the von Trapp Children, great-grandchildren of the singing family made famous by the Rodgers and Hammerstein movie The Sound of Music, Jones’ concert schedule this season will include performances in Montana, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, the Philippines, Canada, South Korea, and Great Britain.
