Summer Concert Series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church

Shadyside Presbyterian Church presents “Music for Midsummer Nights,” a mini-series of concerts on Wednesday evenings in June, at 7:00 p.m.

As Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, concludes its 24th successful season, the church invites audiences to enjoy these programs:

  • Wednesday, June 7: The Pittsburgh Camerata and Chatham Baroque: Two of George Frideric Handel's Chandos Anthems (Tickets: $15; $10 for seniors 60 and older; free for students with valid identification. Tickets available for purchase through the church office.)
  • Wednesday, June 14: The Steel City Men’s Chorale (No tickets are necessary for admission.  Freewill donations will be accepted.)
  • Wednesday, June 21: The Pittsburgh Camerata: “A Chorus Divided: Music for Double Choir” (Tickets: $20 in advance; $25 at the door; $5 for students with valid identification. Tickets available for purchase online at www.pittsburghcamerata.org.)
  • Wednesday, June 28: Raquel Winnica Young, mezzo-soprano, and Scott Pauley, theorbo (No tickets are necessary for admission.  Freewill donations will be accepted.)

The concert on June 21 occurs from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.; all others occur from 7:00 to 7:50 p.m.

Shadyside Presbyterian Church’s Director of Music Ministry, Mark A. Anderson, also serves as the Artistic Director for the Pittsburgh Camerata and will conduct the June 7 and 21 concerts. Richard Teaster is the director of the Steel City Men’s Chorale and will conduct its June 14 appearance on the series.

Shadyside Presbyterian Church is centrally located in the heart of Pittsburgh’s university district, just a few blocks away from the campuses of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.  The church is situated on the corner of Amberson Avenue and Westminster Place, only one block off Fifth Avenue at 5121 Westminster Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15232.  Free on-street parking is available surrounding the church.  Childcare is available during the concerts.

New Masterpieces Arrivals will be on view at Gary Nader Art Centre, Wynwood Arts District, Miami from May 11 to June 30, 2017, the new acquired artworks show the scope and depth of the gallery’s collection dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the best of modern, contemporary and Latin American Art. New Masterpieces Arrivals features works by Soraya Abu Naba’a, Marcos Amaro, Fernando Botero, Emiliano di Cavalcanti, Julio Larraz, Matta, Vik Muñiz and Tomas Sanchez, among others.
